Alfred S.Cresap,82,of Sioux City,died Thursday,April 24,2003 at a Sioux City,nursing home following a lenghtly illness.Services will be 11 a.m.Monday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel,with Rev.Richard Francis officiaing.Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.Alfred was born Jan.6,1921,in Omaha,Neb.,son of Alfred Rockwell and Florence(Steadman)Cresap.He was raised in Omaha,Neb.until the age 8 years of age when he moved to Sioux City,Iowa.He had been a resident every since.He graduated from East High School in 1939.and attended Coyne Electric in Chicago,Ill.He served in the U.S.Army from Sept.1942 to Oct.1945.He was discharged from the Service as a Sgt.T-4,during World War II.He was stationed in Africa,Sicily,Sardinia,Corsica,France,Germany and Austria.He married Gwen Nelson in Sioux City on Oct.17,1947.He was employed with Smith and Electric,Paul Electric,All Power Inc.,all in Sioux City,and the Sioux City Transit System for 15 years.He was a member of American Legion Post # 64,Woodbury County Retired Unionists,AFLCIO,Senior Center.He enjoyed watching television and fishing.Survivors include his wife Gwen of Sioux City;two daughters,Cheryl and husband Richard Gosnell of Jefferson,S.D.,Sharon and Marvin Wilde of Sioux City;a son Scott of Sherwood,Ore.;seven grandchildren,Chad and Jamie Hathaway,Jermey and Jason Jahn,Haley and Callie Cresap,Stephanie Smith.He preceded in death by his parents and a brother Robert.
