Christopher C. "Chris" Creech, 43, of Deputy, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at King's Daughters' Hospital.
He was born March 27, 1966, in Madison, the son of Vernon and Carolyn Perkins Creech. He lived all of his life in Deputy and was a 1984 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. He attended Indiana University Southeast and was studying marine biology and working toward a teaching degree. He worked early in life in the receiving department at the Ben Franklin in Seymour. He had worked since 1994 at Lowe's Distribution in North Vernon as a receiving clerk. He was in charge of the Monday Night Men's Bowling League. He had served as secretary and treasurer for the Madison Veterans of Foreign Wars Monday Night Bowling League. He was a member of Deputy United Methodist Church and had served as the youth sermonette leader, as liturgist and on the board of trustees and the finance committee. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, watching University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball, playing softball, playing euchre, the Cincinnati Bengals, and watching NASCAR and No. 48 Lowe's driver Jimmy Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Lollis Creech, whom he married Jan. 12, 2001; his mother, of Deputy; one brother, Dallas Creech of Scottsburg; one sister, Stacy Frazier of Deputy; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father, who died Feb. 13, 1999; his grandparents, Jim and Christine Perkins, and Charles and Stella Creech; and his step grandfather, Floyd Kinnard Sr.
The funeral was at Deputy United Methodist Church.
