SHAPLEIGH – Amy P. Crediford, 80, of Shapleigh Corner died Friday at the H.D. Goodall Hospital after a long illness.
She was born in Shapleigh, June 3, 1902, the daughter of Frank and Alma Hooper Pillsbury, and lived here all her life.
She attended Shapleigh schools and the former Gorham Normal School, she was a member of the Shapleigh First Baptist Church, and was a deaconess for many years.
She was an honorary deaconess at the time of her death. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid Society, the Pairs and Spares, and the Missionary Society of the Church.
She was a member and former chaplain of Mousam Lake Grange and was also a seventh degree member of York Pomona and National Granges.
She formerly taught school in Newfield and Shapleigh and drove the school bus for Shapleigh schools for many years.
She was a charter member of the Shapleigh Firemen's Auxiliary and also worked for a shoe factory in Springvale.
Mrs. Crediford is survived by her husband Leon E. Crediford of Shapleigh; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Laeta) Smith of Norcross, GA and Mrs. Harry (Lista) Staples of Shapleigh; a brother George Pillsbury of Shapleigh; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Goodwin of South Portland; and five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the Shapleigh First Baptist Church. The Rev. Paul S. Keirstead, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Springvale. Relatives and friends may call at the Heald Funeral Home, 61 Main Street, Springvale on Sunday from 1-3 and 7-9 p.m.
