She was born January 2, 1932 in Stanly County to the late Bennie Lee Mitchell and Foey Ethel Curlee Dorsey.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold David Crayton; two grandchildren, Jamie Almond and Jessica Honeycutt; one brother, Franklin "Bud" Mitchell; and one sister, Evelyn Mitchell.
She is survived by sons, Arley Mitchell and wife Jessica of Greensboro, Dondi Crayton and wife Teresa of Albemarle; daughters, Debbie Carter and husband Harold of New London, Lynnie Lawrence and husband Allen of Albemarle, Gwen Huneycutt and husband Jerry of Albemarle, Tangy Cornett and husband Chris of Albemarle, Susan Honeycutt and husband Hub of New London; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Shirley Biles and Sudie Curlee of Albemarle.
Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. Funeral service will be Friday, Sept. 17, 2010 at 2 p.m. at North Albemarle Baptist Church with a 30 minute state. Revs. Tab Whitley, Jason Almond and Mark Mabry will officiate. Burial will follow at Mission Baptist Church Cemetery in Ridgecrest.
