BROOKSTON - Bertha Dean Crawford Staley, 83, died at 2:35 PM Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, in Regency Place, Lafayette, where she had been a resident since July. Born March 21, 1916, at Knoxville, TN. She married Arthur H. Staley on May 1, 1932 in Albany, KY; he survives. Mrs. Staley had lived in Brookston for 21 years, coming from Odell. She was retired from St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, after 35 years in the surgery department.

Surviving with her husband are three sons, Bob Staley of Lafayette, Roy Staley of West Lafayette, and Jerry Staley of Kingman, IN; three daughters, Mary (Mrs. Benny) Henry of Crawfordsville, Betty (Mrs. Mike) Priest of Indianapolis, and Charlotte (Mrs. Lee) Turner of Brookston; 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Bill Staley; an infant son, Daniel; a sister, a half-brother, and a half-sister.
