Elma Crawford Bailey ALVIN, SC -

Elma Crawford Bailey, 99, of Alvin, SC, a retired seamstress for Sears & Roebuck, died Saturday morning at the Hospice Center of Charleston.

Her funeral will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday afternoon, April 27, 2010, in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park, N. Charleston. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday evening. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Hood's Chapel United Methodist Church, 2445 N. Highway 17-A, Bonneau, SC 29431, or to the Hospice of Charleston Foundation, 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.

Mrs. Bailey was born Oct. 16, 1910, in Alvin, SC, a daughter of Benjamin Franklin Crawford, Sr., and Annie Carr Crawford.

She was a former clerk and secretary for Seaboard Coastline and enjoyed interior decorating. She was a graduate of St. Stephen High School and a member of Hood's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Bailey was the granddaughter of two Civil War veterans, Stephen Benjamin Crawford, SC Volunteers Manigault's Battalion Company B, and William Henry Carr, SC Calvary. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Eunice Wyndham, Pearline Gatlin, and Maggie Mae Jeffcoat, and two brothers, Steve Crawford and B. Franklin Crawford, Jr.

Mrs. Bailey was the widow of Francis Keany Bailey. Surviving are, numerous nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends.
