He was Born to James and Alice (Foulke) Craven. A long time Russell resident, he owned and operated Red's Plumbing and Heating, retiring in 1986. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, all at Russell.
On April 25, 1947, he married Frances Brown at Emporia. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son Robert Craven, Luray; two daughters, Teresa Craven, Larned, and Barbara Craven, Pendleton, Ore.; two brothers, Bill Craven, Russell, and Harold Craven, Hays; a sister, Irene Baxter, Norman, Okla.; and two grandchildren.
