Dad was the younger of 2 children (as am I, and his father was the youngest of 6; that's 3 generations of youngest children!). Having been promoted straight from 7th to 9th grade, he graduated from South Fremont High School with his brother Jon in 1965. He studied mechanical engineering at Utah State University. He married Bobbe Sue Rees in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple on May 27, 1971. For a time they lived in San Jose, California, where my sister Elizabeth was born. Then they moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where they had me. After almost 20 years of marriage, my parents divorced. Having suffered from multiple sclerosis since adolescence, Dad died of pneumonia at age 51.
