Columbia resident Barbara Elizabeth Baker Fenenga died Feb. 12 at her home. She was 81.
Born in San Francisco, she graduated from Polytechnic High School and earned her degree in history from UC Berkeley in 1951.
She went on to marry Robert Gordon Baker and the couple built their own adobe home in Huntington Beach in 1955. They later divorced.
She went on to earn her master's degree in anthropology from Cal State Long Beach in 1978. She married Franklin Fenenga in 1991 and he died in 1994.
She moved to Columbia in 2006.
She enjoyed fruit trees, wildflowers, sailing, sewing, organic gardening, archaeological field and lab work.
Mrs. Fenenga is survived by her ex-husband, Robert Baker, of Cloverdale; children and their spouses, Peter Baker, of Cloverdale, Becky and Paul Langenwalter, of La Mirada, and Robert and Jeannie Baker, of Columbia; grandchildren, Elizabeth and husband Colin Anderson, of Bonsall, Paul Langenwalter III, of New Orleans, Rachel and husband Austin Ellis, of San Diego, and Rebecca and Martha Langenwalter, both of La Mirada; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Cranston, of Chico; brother-in-law, Edwin Baker, of Long Beach; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Fenenga; and her parents, Robert and Maude Cranston.
