She was born January 12, 1931 in Tippecanoe to Wren and Evelyn (Doutt) Crane.
On January 1, 1950 she married Paul E. Bitting in Winona Lake.
He survives along with four daughters, Susan (Dana) Mathews of New Paris, Peggy (Jody) Hartman and Kathy Mae Collins, both of Goshen, and Ruth (Ray) Whitehead of New Paris; four sons, Douglas (Chris) Bitting of Syracuse, James (Kim) Bitting of Goshen, Steven Bitting of Fort Worth, Texas, and John (Dyana) Bitting of Elkhart; 50 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren with two on the way; and three sisters, Phyllis J. Johnson of Gainsville, Florida, Carol (Lody) Adams of Nappanee and Sandra (Richard) Baughman of Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two children, Terri Lee and Paul Michael Bitting, a grandson, Eric Lee Worthman and a granddaughter, Lindsay Whitehead.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Bitting was a member at Life Point Church and a constant prayer warrior. Besides creating a loving home, being and excellent cook and baker, she worked at various local jobs, including the Goshen Hospital Dietary Dept., Augsburger’s Grocery Store and the Pie Pantry before retiring. She enjoyed volunteering at local elementary schools helping children learn to read, and spending as much time with grandchildren as possible.
