Lloyd L. Crane, 86, of 805 E. Park Ave., Chippewa Falls, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls.

He was born Sept. 14, 1913 in Stanley to Grace Othelia (Dahlberg) and Lewis David Crane. He graduated from Chippewa Falls High School and attended Ripon College, U.W. Stout in Menomonie, and the University of Missouri. He began working at Crane Lumber Company in Chippewa Falls in 1933.

Lloyd married Ruth Jean Dorland on Nov. 15, 1941, in Chippewa Falls. He served in the U.S. Navy Seebees during WWII, from May 10, 1943 until Nov. 23, 1945. He later became a partner in Crane Lumber Company and served as its President until retiring in 1991.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Chippewa Falls Masonic Lodge #176 F. & A.M., Tripoli Shrine, Elk's Lodge #1326, and American Legion Post #77.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Jean Crane of Chippewa Falls, two sons, David (Vicky) Crane, DDS of Chippewa Falls, Hugh (Marcia) Crane of Chippewa Falls, six granchildren, Gregory Crane, Tracey Brunkenhoefer, Marsha Burkett, Melissa Crane, Meghan Crane, and Mollie Crane; three step grandchildren, Kari Miller, Sandi Kaduce, Christi Farberow; four great-grandchildren, Darrow and Cabot Brunkenhoefer, Sydney Burkett, and Madalyn Marie Martin; and one niece Grace Studley of Berkeley, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Gwen MacFarlane; and his brother, Neal D. Crane.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls, where there will be a ssrvice conducted at 7 p.m. by the Chippewa Falls Masonic Lodge #176.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Chippewa Falls, with the Rev. Dr. Barry Boyer officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Memorials to the Chippewa Falls Masonic Lodge Building Fund or to Frist Presbyterian Church in Lloyd's memory would be appreciated.
