Madge L. Crandall
Madge (Smith) Crandall of Emporia, KS, passed away Jan. 8, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Heber and a daughter, JaNelda.
Madge was born in Little River May 8, 1901 to Ira and Dot Smith. She graduated from Little River High School in 1921 with a Normal Training Certificate. She taught school for a few years. She married Heber Crandall, a 1918 graduate of the Little River School system. He was employed by the Santa Fe railroad for many years.
A daughter JaNelda was born in Little River and attended grade school at Little River until the family moved to Emporia.
Services were held for Madge on Jan. 10, 2001 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Chapel in Emporia. Dr. J. Gordon Bechtel, First Presbyterian Church conducted the services. Eastern star service Chapter Miriam 14 followed graveside services at Bean Cemetery, Little River, with Pastor Ted Weis of the Congregational Church presiding.
