Alfred Lowell Cramer died peacefully in his sleep at Turtle and Crane Assisted Living. His children say he was a great example of quiet leadership and service to others. He was the son of Alfred and Emily Tyler Cramer. He said his parents and seven sisters taught him much about service. He married Imogene Barry October 18, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
After serving as a Sergeant in the Army during World War II, he returned to Idaho and joined Idaho Falls Police Department. He worked his way through the ranks to become Chief of Police. After retiring from the police force, he moved to Pocatello and taught another ten years at Idaho State University Police Academy. His students still serve as law enforcement officers throughout the state. After his retirement, he continued to serve in the community through AARP and participation in the senior citizens center. He was also a past exalted ruler of the Idaho Falls Elks Lodge.
Skip was preceded by his beloved wife Jean. He is survived by two sons, Robert (Francis) Cramer of Iowa City, Iowa, and Richard (Judy) Cramer of Danville, Virginia, and a daughter, Bonnie (Gary) Anderson of Anchorage, Alaska. His nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren will miss his love for them, as will his three sisters, Rozilla Cramer, Rhea Green, and Leah Larsen, all of Idaho Falls. The family honored his wishes for no formal funeral services.
