Helen M. Craft was born in the town of Pitcher, Chenango County, Oct. 17, 1843, and died suddenly at the home of Orville Sloan near DeRuyter, Thursday morning Dec. 16, following an attack of apoplexy. She was the youngest of nine children born to Eleazor and Sally Craft. When a girl she moved with her parents to the Town of Taylor, Cortland County. She was married to Anson E. Cobb, Oct. 20, 1868. The first twenty years of their life was spent on a farm in the town of Taylor after which they moved onto the Hollister farm at Chenango. After living there six years they removed to their present home in DeRuyter known as Rakeville. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. C.T. Stone of DeRuyter, and three sisters, Mrs. Nancy Grey of North Brookfield, Mrs. Celia Rockwell of Taylor and Mrs. Sophronia Lyon of Cortland.
