Glenna M. Crabtree Collins, 62, of Oneida, passed away August 22, 2010, at home with her family by her side.
Born in Scott County, May 26, 1948, she was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Margaret Slaven Crabtree; her husband and father of her children, Harold Kenneth Collins; sister, Della Bell; and brother, Dillard Crabtree.
She was a member of Bethalonia United Baptist Church; a member of the Order of the Easter Star, Oneida Lodge #695, where she held numerous positions including Worthy Matron. She was a foster mother to more than 40 children, adopting four; and received the 2002 Mother of the Year Award. A graduate of Cumberland College, she taught at Coalfield High School for two years, and retired from Scott High School with more than 18 years of service.
She is survived by sons: Kenneth Lee Collins of Oneida, and Christopher Lynn Collins and wife, Sarah, of Columbia, Missouri; adopted children: Reshonda Harness, Jessica Wentz, Phillip Collins, and Crystal Washam; 14 special grandchildren, sisters: Irene Strunk and husband, David, and Norma Jean Potter; brothers: Ernest Crabtree and wife, Dottie, and Shirl Crabtree and wife, Wanda; special friend, Lillian Emory; special nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.
Funeral service was conducted August 25, in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Rev. J.D. Burke officiating. Interment followed at Carson Memorial Park.
Jones & Son Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
