Bailey Cozad died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Amanda Baker of Douglas Township on the 13th, inst. aged 70 years. The funeral was held from the Baptist Church in Carbon, conducted by Rev. A. Y. Cupp. Interment was in the Quincy Cemetery. He was a veteran of the civil war and had been a resident of Adams County for about twenty years. He was survived by a wife and seven children.

Bailey Cozad served in Co. C of the 137th Illinois Infantry, at about the age of 47. He was captured 8/21/1864 near Memphis and was imprisoned at the Cahawba (Cahaba) military prison in Alabama. He survived that ordeal and was released in 1865. Thank y...(Read more)|
