David Cozad, son of Elijah and Martha Cozad, was born in West Virginia, on the second day of January, 1846. The family emigrated from West Viriginia to Appanoose county, Ia., when he was a lad of ten years. In 1869 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Ann Close and to this union two sons and two daughters were born. Three are dead and only one son, Engledove of Wheatland, Wyo., is living.
With the exception of 13 years that the family lived in Kansas, the home life was spent on a farm near Jerome. On the 7th day of March, 1927, the wife and mother died, and during the past five years the husband and father has lived with his son in Wheatland, Wyo. It was at this place that he departed this life on the 7th day of May, 1932. At the time of his death he was 86 years, four months and five days old. When a young man of 20 years he was converted and united with the Concord Baptist church and for these 66 years he served the Lord.
He was the last member of a family of six children. Besides his son he is survived by four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. His wife, three children, two brothers, three sisters and his parents preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at the Concord community church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by the Rev. Luther W. Childs. Interment was made in the Concord cemetery.
