Barbara Diane Coye, 68, of Newton and formerly of Tama, passed away Monday, November 21, 2011 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton under the care of Hospice of Jasper County.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 28, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Dave Jaspers officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 27, 2011 from 3-5 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.

Barbara was born on October 25, 1943, in Litchfield, Minnesota, the daughter of Elmer R. and Gwenavere (Nissen) Papesh.

She graduated from South Tama High School.

On August 16, 1973, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Joel Coye in Camdenton, Missouri. Barbara was a Nurse's Aid in home health care and worked at the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown and Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. She also worked in retail at the Ben Franklin in Tama and various other area stores.

Throughout the years, she was active in the Baptist Church where she was also a Sunday school teacher. Barbara enjoyed Bible reading, putting out Bible Tracts, reading, camping and fishing with her husband. She was the best wife in the world and especially enjoyed one-on-one time with her granddaughter.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Robert and Bill Papesh; and one sister, Bev Crawford.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Coye of Newton; one son, Randy (Lynda) Caley of Centerville, IA; one granddaughter, Alyssa Caley; two brothers, Brian (Janice) Papesh of Conifer, CO, and Barry (Terri) Papesh of Tama; her mother-in-law, Rachel Coye of Newton; and her sister-in-law, Jeanie (Sevcik) Papesh of Bloomington, Indiana.
