BLATTNER BETTY P. AKA Liz Wellington, She was born 8/6/28 in St. Charles, MO. and died after a short illness on 7/17/01. Betty moved to San Francisco as a teenager and graduated from Balboa High School. She lived in Atlanta, GA for a short time where her first two children Jackie & Eddie were born. Betty returned to the Bay Area in the 50's where Margaret & Billy were born. Betty moved to Fremont in 1962 where she spent the rest of her life. After being a stay at home mom and having a variety of part time jobs, she found a career with Ohlone College as the purchasing secretary. During her years at Ohlone she made many life long friends and continued to be involved with the college well after her retirement in 1990. During her lifetime she enjoyed travel, the ocean, playing blackjack, volunteering for the US open golf tournaments, trips to the city, coin collecting, steak tartar, three olive martinis & Frank Sinatra. She also enjoyed spending time with her long time companion & friend Harry Bookbinder. She is survived by her sister Mary Walshin, her brother John Cox, daughter & son-in-law Jackie Balough & Doug Monas, son & daughter-in-law Ed & Jill Whitehurst, daughter & son-in-law Margaret & Don Whaley. She was preceded in death by her son Bill Blattner. She is also survived by her grandchildren Bootsie, Sarah, Lisa, Shannon & Heather, great-grandchildren Tanner, Kennedy & Colby, and adopted grandchildren Paul & Will. She also leaves behind many dear friends. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service, Friday, July 20, 2001 @ 10:30 AM held in the Chapel of Berge-Pappas-Smith Mortuary, 40842 Fremont Blvd., Fremont. Private family burial will take place at Irvington Memorial Cemetery.
