Alice Virginia Cox, 87, died May 16, at the Bethesda Care Center, Edgar. The funeral was Tuesday at the Church of the Plains with Pastor Harold Fox officiating. Burial was in the Edgar Cemetery. Mrs. Cox was the daughter of Clifford and Nora Will Spangler and was born Sept. 27, 1904 at Eight Mile Grove in Cass County. The family moved to a farm west of Deweese when she was a small child. Later they moved to a farm south of Angus where she grew to adulthood. She attended Carlon School west of Oak and Edgar High School. She was united in marriage to Floyd A. Cox on March 22, 1922. To this union three sons were born. She was a member of the Church of the Plains where she taught Sunday school and was active in other church activities. She was a 50-year member of the Edgar Women's Club and served on the Library Board and as librarian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on January 28, 1972, a brother, Clifford Spangler, and a sister, Barbara Hennings. She is survived by three sons, Garland, Granite Falls, Wash.; Lloyd and Jack, Edgar; two sisters, Mabel Koch, Riverside, Calif., and Marvel Rutherford, Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Harold Spangler, Murry, and Russell Spangler, Union; six grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The Urbauer-Williams Funeral Home, Edgar, was in charge of arrangements. Superior Express May 21, 1992.
