Mrs. J. R. Alford breathed her last Saturday morning, after a weeks illness, aged 70. Her disease was apoplexy and paralysis and for several days she was speechless and unconscious. She was a Miss Cox and some 34 years ago moved with her husband to this place, where they have since resided. In the absence of Mr. Pollitt, of which church she was a member, Rev. A. S. Moffett held a prayer service at her late residence Sunday afternoon, and then the remains were laid away in Buffalo Cemetery. Mrs. Alford was the mother of Mrs. G. D. Wearer and Mr. B. G. Alford, who, with her husband now past three score and ten, survives her.
