Jeff E. Cox, 79, of Lafayette, died at 6:25 PM Saturday, June 15, 2013 in his home following a lengthy illness. Born August 20, 1934 in Tazewell, TN, he was the son of the late Marshall and Mollie Rankin Cox. Jeff was married to Leota Godbey on May 31, 1958 in Louisville, KY, and she preceded him in death on April 6, 2005.

Jeff and his wife had lived most of their lives in Lafayette and had lived a brief time in Attica. He had worked as a carpenter for 22 years at National Homes in Lafayette and then worked for 23 years as a Donation Attendant at Goodwill Industries before retiring. Jeff enjoyed the time he could spend with his family and friends.

Jeff is survived by a daughter, Tammy Brown of Attica and a step-daughter, Cathy Smith of Attica, four sisters, Alberta McDonald and Ruby Duncan of Lafayette, Cora Brown of Michigan, and Helen Hensley of Kentucky, one brother, Wade Cox (wife, Bessie) of Michigan, and a grandson raised in Jeff and Leota's home, Michael Butler of Lafayette. In addition, Jeff is also survived by 4 additional grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Simplicity Funeral Care entrusted with care.
