Deaths and Funerals
COX – James R. Cox, died Wednesday at noon at this home at Edgemoor, in Anderson county, at the age of eighty years. He is survived by a widow, two daughters and two sons. Burial will be this morning at eleven o'clock at the family cemetery near Edgemoor, under the auspices of Beaver Ridge lodge No. 866, F. & A. M. Mr. Cox was a well known farmer, had served as worshipful master of Beaver Ridge Lodge and served in the Confederate army. Funeral services were conducted over the remains of James R. Cox, aged 80 years, at his late home near Edgemoor, Anderson county at 11 o'clock Thursday morning. Interment was in the cemetery near Edgemoor, the ceremonies being conducted under the auspices of the Beaver Ridge lodge, No. 366, F. & R. M. Mr. Cox was formerly worshipful master of the lodge. Served in the Civil War, Confederate, Private, Co L, 8th Regiment, Tennessee Cavalry. Enlisted 7 Nov 1862. Captured 22 Apr 1864 Spring Place, Georgia. Sent to Camp Morton, Indianapolis, Indiana. Released 18 May 1865.

He was a Mason and belonged to Beaver Ridge Lodge No 366. Served as Grand Master for sixteen terms.
