Thelma M. Avey, age 86, died July 24, 2002 at the Comfort House in McAllen. Born in San Antonio, TX on February 8, 1916, she was a resident of Village Westlakes. Survivors include husband, Colin Avery; daughters, Carol Bell (Herman) Skloss, Linda (John) Necker, Coleen (Craig) Harris; grandchildren, Jack (Yvonne) Long, Wayne (Margo) Long, Denis (Lisa) Long, Jason Skloss, Debbie (Dana) Boyes, Brenda Necker, John Necker Jr., Suzanne Harris and Jennifer Harris; stepgrandchildren, Alois H. Skloss, Roxane (Marty) Cook and Michelle (Scott) Boyle; eight great-grandchildren and son-in-law, Fred Strayer.

Mrs. Avey was preceded in death by her daughter, Jacqueline Long Strayer. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2002 at 10:00 A.M. at Mission Park South Cemetery, 1700 S.E. Military Drive, San Antonio, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Comfort House, 617 Dallas Ave., McAllen, TX 78501.
