Enlisted as a Private on 11 March 1862 in 14th Light Artillery Regiment Indiana at Wabash, Indiana. Died 14th Light Artillery Regiment Indiana on 13 January 1865.

Daniel L. Cox was a private in the Fourteenth Indiana Battery, and shared with his comrades in all the hardships, toils and achivements of the campaign, and almost to the end of the war when, his health failing, he died on the 13th of January 1865.
