She was a native of York County, S.C., daughter of the late William Mack and Mary Clementine Barrett McCarter, wife of the late Henry Clay Cox, graduate of Erskine College, member of Bethany A.R.P. Church

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Mary Clay Cox Crawford, Kings Mountain, Barbara Barrett Cox Moore, Gastonia, Ann Karen Cox Mitchell, High Point; sons, George William Cox, Gastonia, Stephen Lynwood Cox, Charlotte; sister, Helen McCarter Cook, Clover; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Bethany A.R.P Church, Revs. Alan Morrow, Guy Smith
