Addie May Cox, the daughter of Swain N.S. and Martha Lee Cruff Brown, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on September 6, 1889. Her death occurred at Aurora, on July 1, 1982, having attained the age of 92 years, 9 months and 25 days.

Her entire lifetime had been spent in Hamilton County, where she spent her childhood in the vicinity of Murphy and attended the Mt. Vernon School near Murphy.

On December 22, 1909, she was united in marriage to John M. Cox at Aurora. Two daughters blessed their home. They farmed until 1932 when they moved into Aurora. After moving to Aurora, they were engaged in operating a restaurant and filling station. She then cooked in several cafes in Aurora and Hampton. For two years they managed the Aurora Hotel. After the death of her husband on June 7, 1963, she continued to reside in Aurora. She resided at Crossroads Court from the time of its opening until September of 1975, when she entered the Hamilton Manor, where she has since resided.

Mrs. Cox was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Aurora Chapter No. 93 Order of The Eastern Star and was active in both as long as her health permitted.

Her parents and her husband had preceded her in death.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Harp and her husband Glen and Mrs. Evelyn Zehr and her husband Clair, all of Aurora; four grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and other relatives and close friends.
