Leona May Cox, 89, a homemaker of Canton, Mo, died Monday evening, March 25, 1996, in Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.
Born January 8, 1907, near LaGrange, Mo, in the Dover community, Mrs. Cox was a daughter of August and Ethel Ruth Withers Drescher. She married John Harold Cox December 31, 1929, in LaGrange. He died March 9, 1989.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Vic (Norma) Gragg of Independence, and Mrs. George (Marilyn) Hoffman of Canton; five grandchildren, Steven Gragg of Independence, Stanton Gragg of Lone Jack, John Hoffman of Rolla, Mrs. Ed (Debra) Schoenfelt of Columbia, and Mrs. Mike (Maria) Baker of Canton; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Wierschem.
Services were conducted Thursday, March 28, 1996, in the Davis Funeral Home in Canton by the Rev. David Howald. Burial was in Ten Mile Cemetery near Canton.
Mrs. Cox was a member of First Baptist Church in LaGrange where he played piano for the start of Sunday School for many years. She had attended rural Lin dale School in Lewis County, and LaGrange and Ten Mile High Schools.
Memorials may be made to Canton Senior Housing or the American Heart Association.
Arrangements were made by Davis Funeral Home in Canton.
