She is a daughter of Joseph Curtis Cowley (1869-1942) and Minnie Ann (Wall) Cowley (1875-1953).

She married Clarence Emron Buchanan (1896-1968) on 24 Sept 1924 in Manti, Utah.

They had four children

Naomi Clarissa Cowley Buchanan, 93, died at the home of her daughter, Nola Buchmiller on September 26, 1995.

Naomi was born January 23, 1902 at Venice, Sevier County, Utah, to Joseph Curtis Cowley and Minnie Ann Wall. She was the sixth of eleven children. She was educated at Venice Elementary School and graduated from Richfield High School. In her youth, she worked as a telephone operator. During World War I, she was very active in Red Cross work.

Naomi married Clarence E. Buchanan on September 24, 1924 in the Manti Temple. Her husband preceded her in death by 27 years. Naomi was an experienced seamstress. She had a love for music and enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She was a excellent cook; she enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens. Naomi served in the Primary and Relief Society organizations, and served as a visiting teacher for many years. Her most important priority in life was in making a good home for her family.

Naomi is survived by her four daughters: Nola Buchmiller, Provo; Lila Abersold, Salt Lake City; Norma (Richard) Gray, Ogden; and LeeAnn (Jerry) Sandstrom, Las Vegas, Nevada; 13 grandchildren (one grandson is serving a mission in Tahiti); 26 great-grandchildren (one great-grandson is serving a mission in Ecuador). She is also survived by her sister, Elva C. Davis, Venice, Utah.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 30, 1995, at 11 a.m., Cherry Hill Third Ward, 1650 South 200 East, Orem. Family and friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center Street, Provo and at the church one hour prior to services. Interment: East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery.
