Roberta K. Allen, age 77 of Park River, ND, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the First Care Health Center of Park River.

Roberta Cowger was born May 26, 1936 in Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of the late Dr. William Evan and Dr. Phyllis (Weber) Cowger. She grew up and attended school in Park River and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School. She then enlisted in the United States Marines and served two years in the payroll department. Following her discharge, she returned to Park River and was united in marriage to Donald Honcik. She began working as a supervisor for the Developmental Center in Grafton and later worked at Jim's Super Valu in Park River. She retired in 2006.

She was a member and past commander of the Park River American Legion Post #147. She enjoyed bowling and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up.

She is survived by her children: Elizabeth (Timothy) Helmoski, Park River, ND, Katie (Roger) Johnson, Park River, ND, Valerie (Cory) Dow, Roseville, CA, Lori Salazar, Abingdon, VA, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, siblings: Richard (Zaundra) Cowger, Nisswa, MN, Mary (Jorgen) Dahl, Golden Valley, MN, Audrey (Orville) Wilhelm, Bottineau, ND, Jane Cowger, Fargo, ND, Ruth (Bob) Hagel, Fargo, ND, Patricia Sexton, Seattle, WA, Joan Cowger, Grand Forks, ND, John (Lynette) Cowger, Grand Forks, ND, Bob (Judy) Cowger, Grand Forks, ND, and Mark (Deb) Cowger, East Grand Forks, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, and brothers: William Lane and William Thadd.

Memorial services will be Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 2:30 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Military rights will be provided by the Park River American Legion Post #147 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND.
