Gertrude Elizabeth Cowden

Memorial service for Gertrude Cowden will be 10:00 am, Thursday, June 13th at Butler Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a viewing from 8:00 am to 05:00 pm on Wednesday, June 12th and one hour prior to the service on Thursday from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.

Mrs. Cowden, 88, of Bolivar, died Sunday at Bolivar CMH surrounded by her family. The daughter of Walter and Mary (Ballinger) Durham was born in Bolivar, MO. She was joined in marriage to Otis Cowden in September of 1939.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband of 56 years, her only son, Ronnie Cowden, and four grandchildren, Tammy Sanders, Kevin Sanders, Michael Cates, and Kale Fisher.

She is survived by her children and their spouses. Lela and Lloyd Cates, Janie Sanders and Dan Lee, Beverly and Gene Manes, Margie and Lloyd Barker, Janett and Donnie Slagle, Connie and Kelly Bouling, Ronda and Terry Mitchell, and her only daughter in law, Sherry Cowden.
Burial will be at Slagle Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Butler Funeral Home.
