Mr. Cowan had worked at Bower Roller Bearing, Ben P. Fyke & Sons, the Grapevine and Durst Lumber. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horse shoes, golf, bingo and his tomato garden.
Surviving were his wife, Gertrude Cowan, whom he married July 24, 1948 in Berkley; children, Sharon Cowan, Charles Cowan, Janette (Gary) Snyder, Harvey (Nancy) Cowan, Patrick (Debbie) Cowan, Barry (Patricia) Cowan, Mary (John) Sharpe and Emery Cowan; daughter in law, Debi Cowan; siblings, Ruth, Betty and James and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Larry Cowan and Eli Cowan Jr.
