Funeral for Artie Covington Barr, 84, of Garrison and formerly of Timpson will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Taylor Funeral Home Chapel, Timpson, with the Rev. Leroy Bowley, the Rev. Norman McDonald and the Rev. Douglas McDonald officiating. Burial will be in Caledonia Cemetery, Rusk County.
Barr died Jan. 25, 2004, in Nacogdoches Medical Center.
Born Jan. 8, 1920, in Center, she was the daughter of William C. and Lola Taylor Covington. She was a homemaker and a member of Springs of Living Water Church, Timpson. She was married to Thomas Lee Barr, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Thomas Ray Barr of Center, Jimmy Bruce Barr of Arlington, James Terry Barr of Gary, David Barr of Richmond and Paul Barr of Garrison; daughters, Bertha Marie Abramowitz of Cantonment, Fla., and R. Bell Penn of Grand Prairie; brothers, Jessie Ray Covington of Alto Loma and William Horace Covington of California; sisters, Daisy Carroll of Wilson, N.C., and Essie Mae Ferguson of Lufkin; 20 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
