Daniel Alan Covey, Jr., 17, of Snowville, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2011. He was a member of River of Life Pentecostal Holiness Church and a welder with Sippel Steel. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John L. Tibbs and Albert Covey and an uncle, Timmy Covey. Survivors include his parents, Daniel Alan, Sr. and Debbie Covey of Snowville; brothers, Larry Thomas, Jr. of Radford, Eric Justin Thomas and wife Starlett and William Travis Thomas and girlfriend Kristin Adkins, all of Pennsylvania; paternal grandmother, Eunice Covey of Snowville; maternal grandmother, Elsie Montgomery Tibbs of Dublin; aunts and uncles, Bill and Dorothy Bramlett of Dublin, Dean and Brenda Wagner of Radford, Dale and Jericia Tibbs of Chesapeake, John and Lori Tibbs of Christiansburg, Timmy and Donna Miller of Dublin, Leon and Carol Dishon of Christiansburg, and Tommy and Becky Covey of Snowville; special friends, Tiara Katherine McDaniel, Kenson Lunsford, Allen O'Berri, Jerrell Hardy, Hunter Nicole Quinn, Zach Lyons, Andrew Williamson and Tinker Bell; special cousin, Miranda Miller "MiMi" who he lovingly referred to as his sister; three nieces, five nephews, and numerous cousins. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 7 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. John L. Tibbs and Rev. Buford Linkous officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday and at all other times at the parents' home, 3676 Covey Hollow Road, Hiwassee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Station 3 Rescue, c/o Snowville Volunteer Fire Dept., 4855 Lead Mine Road, Hiwassee, VA 24347.
