"'Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Baker died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Katie McClure, at Decatur, this state, on Friday evening, January 14, of neuralgia of the heart.

She took sick about 4 o'clock and died three or four hours later, perfectly happy to make the change from the scenes of this life to those of the beyond.

"'Mrs. Baker's maiden name was Cover, having been born near New Geneva,Fayette county, Pennsylvania, March 12, 1843.

She was the surviving widow of John H. Baker, who died in 1915.

She was married to Rev. Baker, who was an elder in the Church of the Brethren, in Masontown, Pa., May 10, 1868, and came to this part of the country many years ago. She always faithfully assisted her husband in his church work in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kansas and in a number of places in Illinois, having become a member of the church at the age of fourteen years.

The Bakers were well known and respected in Astoria and Woodland township where they lived and worked a number of years."'To this union were born six children, one of which, Mary E., died in infancy. Those who are living are David S. and Mrs. Anna Rumble of Astoria, James W. of Canton, Mrs. Katie McClure and Mrs. Maggie Hershberger of Decatur.

She is also survived by three brothers and one sister, David Cover of Iuka, this state, John Cover of North Manchester, Indiana, Noah Cover of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Mrs. Mattie Sterling, Corning, Iowa. All of these together with a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces and a host of relatives and friends mourn her loss.

Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Baker made her home with her children. Of late she was making her home at Decatur from which place the body was brought on the afternoon train on Monday.

The daughters and other accompanied the body which was taken to the Church of the Brethren in Astoria where the services were conducted by Elder S.S. Blough from Ps. 23:4 and 2 Tim. 1:10, 12, assisted by ministers of the Astoria and Woodland congregations.

The body was then taken to the Woodland church cemetery and laid beside that of her husband. Her age at death was 72 years, 10 months and two days.'"
