Hildagard E. Courson 1913-2002
Hildagard E. Courson, 88, died Nov. 4 at Marshfield Care Center of Marshfield, Mo.
She was born Nov. 9, 1913, in Barton County, the daughter of Henry and Molly Miller Wilhelm.
She married Paul Funk on Oct. 8, 1933. He preceded her in death. She later married Bill Courson. He preceded her in death.
A resident of Marshfield since 1995, coming from Galatia and Great Bend, she worked at Larned State Hospital, a
Hoisington grocery store and was employed by Great Bend Packing for 21 years.
Mrs. Courson was a member of Church of Christ and Ladies Extension Club, both of Great Bend.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Funk of Hays; two daughters, Carolyn Kisner of Derby and Beverly McCormick of Marshfield; five sisters, Martha Schneider and Viola Schneider, both of WaKeeney, Esther McMannis of Wichita, Isabelle Radke of Great Bend and Jean Bailey of Russell; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Paulette Funk; six brothers, Eddie Wilhelm, Emil Wilhelm, Ray
Wilhelm, Emanual Wilhelm, Leo Wilhelm and Herbie Wilhelm; and one sister, Elsie Funk.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fryberger Mortuary Chapel of Great Bend with the Rev. Keith Funk officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery of Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, in care of the mortuary.
