She was the daughter of the late Harry and Maye Moon Ervin.
Mrs. Courson was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Gettysburg and was a graduate of the Christ Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati, OH.
Following graduation, she married Iber Courson of Springfield, OH, and moved to San Francisco during World War II, where her husband was stationed with Army Intelligence. She put her RN skills immediately to work at San Francisco's Children's Hospital. Elizabeth and Iber celebrated in the streets of the city with thousands of others at the war's end and returned east to live in Columbus, OH; Philadelphia; Longmeadow, MA; and finally Gettysburg, where they lived for 36 years.
She cared for others as an RN and worked and volunteered at many hospitals including the Gettysburg Hospital. She was an active member of PEO, the Daughters of the American Revolution. Elizabeth and her husband had a full life together, traveling abroad, attending many of their son Stephen's Pittsburgh Steelers games and visiting family in Ohio and Nantucket, MA.
Her husband, Iber C. Courson departed this life in 2000, and she is survived by a son, Bruce Courson of Nantucket, MA; a grandson, Robert Courson; and a sister, Ruth Morningstar of South Charleston, OH.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Stephen.
