John Clifton Councill IV, 29, of the 1100 block of Redgate Avenue, died March 2, 1998, in Cape Hatteras, N.C.
John was a native of Norfolk. He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Norfolk. John had real estate and general contractor's licenses and was a property manager for Councill Realty and Management. He was honored with the Distinguished Property Manager Award by the Tidewater Association of Realtors. John was a founding member of the Park Place Police and Property Owners Association. He was an avid fisherman who also loved boating, snow skiing, and his dog Cody.
He will be greatly missed by his parents, Jay and Susanne Councill; sister, Leslie A. Councill; grandparents, Clifton and Alice Councill, Neil and Anne Boothby. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Loretta and Chuck Grant, George and Roe Boothby; and cousins, Kevin and Cynthia Grant and Neil and Jeffrey Boothby.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Charles A. Joy. The family suggests memorial donations may be made in John's memory to the Norfolk S.P.C.A., 916 Ballentine Blvd., Norfolk, Va. 23504. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
