Shirley Maxine (Coulter) Burns, age 81, of Michigan City, IN, passed away on March 24, 2012 at Franciscan St. Anthony Health Center in Michigan City, IN.
She was born on May 31, 1930, in Goshen, IN to Phineaus Mc Kinley and Charlotte Freda (Kahn) Coulter. She married Donald Claire on May 26, 1950 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, in Michigan City, IN. Donald preceded her in death.
Surviving her are two sons, David Glen (Shari) Burns, Scott Harold (Shannon) Burns, two daughters, Karen (Carl) Wipperman, and Donna (Michael) Knoll, all of Michigan City, IN. Fifteen grandchildren, Shannon, Carla, Michael, Cody, Katlin, Ashley, Valeria, Brittany, Tyler, Lucas, Christian, Erica, Elizabeth, Lauren, Timothy, Elizabeth, and Jennifer. Great-grandchildren, Regan, Addison, Malerie, Ayden, Ethan, Jack, Corrine. A special friend, Henry Feige who preceded her in death.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home Located at 613 Washington St. Michigan City, IN. The Women of the Moose will hold a Memorial Service at 6:15 PM.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Reshan of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will take place at Swan Lake.
Shirley was a member of Rebekah Lodge of LaPorte, The Women of the Moose and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or The National Kidney foundation.
