Anna Mae was the daughter of Charles and Rosa Main Coulter and the wife of George Kelbaugh, who died in 1986. They had 5 children: Thelma Hardy (died 1990), G. Sherman (died 1995), Elizabeth Baker Bowers (died 1997) and Larry and Franklin who survive. She also had 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren survive. A grandson, James Kelbaugh, died in 1986, and she was predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed knitting and sewing. She was a member of the Brownsville Church of the Brethren and also of Lodge 1136 Eagle Club, Brunswick, Degree of Pocahontas of Frederick, Pleasant Valley Ruritan Club, Pleasant Valley Senior Citizens Assn. and the Brunswick Ambulance Auxiliary.
I never met Anna Mae except through the cards and letters we exchanged for 8 years. I was researching our family and wrote to Anna Mae, who was a first cousin of my great-grandmother Gladys Coulter Allen. Anna Mae wrote me letters about her parents and her Uncle Will and Aunt Addie, my great-great-grandparents. She told me about her grandmother Julia (my ggg grandmother) who died in 1927. Anna Mae was probably the last person alive who could remember her. She also told me about all the hard work involved in growing up on a farm back in the old days.
Anna Mae did not have an easy time in her older years. She lost a lot of her family, including 3 of her 5 children. Her health was very bad. She was a tough lady to make it to 92.
