An Aged Citizen Passes Away
Mrs. Dora Balentine, age 75, departed this life May 4th. She is survived by
her husband, W. C. Balentine; five children, Mrs. Ralph Noles, Audie, Felix and
Jim Balentine of Golden Pond, and Mrs. Ranzy Baker, of Murray; twentyfive grand
children and ten great grandchildren, all of Golden Pond, except two grandsons
in the armed services; one brother, Tom Cothran of Golden Pond; two sisters,
Mrs. W. O. Freeman, Cadiz, and Mrs. Major Prescott, Golden Pond; one half
brother Gentry Cothran; two half sisters, Mrs. Berlin Higgins, Golden Pond, and
Mrs. Gentry Higgins, Murray, and a host of nieces, nephews and other friends
and relatives. She was a member of the Pentecostal Faith and a very devoted
mother and grandmother. Her departure will leave a vacancy in the family
circle that can not be filled. Funeral services were conducted Sunday
afternoon at 1:30 by Rev. W. N. Chambers and J. M. Alvey, of High Point, Ky.
Pall bearers were the grand sons, Thomas G. Wilson, Ralph Balentine, Marshall
Baker, Mills Sholar, Hoover Sholar and Tommy Balentine. Flower girls were the
grand daughter, Mrs. Flora Brown, Tina Baker, Georgia Ballentine, Winnie
Balentine, Ruth Ellen Balentine, Helen Balentine, Lena Sholar and Dorothy
Balentine. Burial was in the Mitchell Chapel cemetery.
