Brenda L. Cosby, 59, of Madison, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, at her residence.
She was born July 19, 1952, in Madison, the daughter of Fred L. and Jennie Dee Todd Cosby. She resided all of her life in Madison and was a 1971 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. She later completed several college classes at Ivy Tech Community College. She was a member of Broadway Second Baptist Church. She began working as a nurse's aide at King's Daughters' Hospital in 1971 and then as a psychiatric attendant at Madison State Hospital until 2003 when she retired. She enjoyed playing softball and solitaire. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Madison Jaycees.
She is survived by two sisters, Vivian Pence of Madison and Karen Berg of Rushville; five brothers, Phil Cosby of Newcastle, Joey Galvez of Los Angeles, Calif., Perry Cosby of Madison, Eric Cosby of Latrobe, Pa., and Dan Lunsford of Tacoma, Wash.; 10 nieces and nephews; eight step nieces and step nephews; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, step great-nieces, step great-nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her mother, who died April 17, 1986; her father, who died Feb. 5, 2008; one sister, Marcella Cosby; one brother, Paul Lawrence Cosby; and her grandparents, Edward and Grace Humes Cosby, and William and Julia Todd.
The funeral was at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial was in Springdale Cemetery.
