Elaine Mae Corson, 65, Sobieski, passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on March 3, 1944, in Marinette, to the late Orval and Grace (DePas) Gordon. Elaine married Joseph Corson on Aug. 14, 1966, in Green Bay. Early on, she worked as a secretary at the Wisconsin State Reformatory. For the past 32 years she was a teacher, teacher's aide and secretary at the Seventh Day Adventist Church and Adventist Junior Academy. Elaine also played the E-Flat Alto and Soprano saxophones at the church and enjoyed piano music. She loved quilting, sewing and was part owner of the Silver Thimble Quilt Shoppe for 14 years. Elaine enjoyed knitting, and donated over 130 hats to cancer patients.

Survivors include her loving husband of 42 years, Joseph; son, Jeffery (Sara) Corson, Green Bay; brothers, Kenneth (Nancy) Gordon, Oconto Falls; Richard (Pamela) Gordon, Green Bay. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Orval and Grace.

A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1414 Shawano Ave., Green Bay, with Pastors Delmar Austin and Steve Aust presiding.

In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund.
