He mustered in on July 18, 1862 at Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. He was 33 years old, married, miller by occupation and his nativity was Winchester County, Virginia.

David W. Corson (Carson) enlisted a second time as a private for 3 years in Company A, 26th Illinois U.S. Infantry on February 20, 1864 at Effingham, Illinois. He mustered in on February 27, 1864 at Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois and mustered out of service on July 20, 1865 at Louisville, Kentucky.
