He lived in Ohio and moved to Monroe in 1842, where he started the first harness shop in the building he built on the east side of the square. In 1863 he drove 22 horses in an emigrant train overland to California. In 1871 he built a hotel in Sioux Falls, SD which his daughter named the Cataract House. - From Louise Jevne book.

He is listed as Regimental Staff in Green County, as Adjutant in the Nov. 6, 1847 issue of The Democrat, Madison, Wisconsin Territory.
