Sherrell Corron was the oldest son of Lewis Thomas Corron (1902-1982) and Velma Lucille Franks (1910-1983).
An old farmer hung up his denim coveralls to a fight with lung cancer on November 5, 2012 at 77 years. Sherrell Corron was born in Idabel, Choctaw, Oklahoma on July 9th, 1935 to Lewis Thomas Corron (1935-2012) and Velma Lucille Franks. He married Erma Louise Lynn Corron on March 22, 1958 in Reno, Nevada and they spent 54 years together in Glenn County.
Sherrell attended Hamilton City schools. A proud Naval veteran, he fought in Korea. He attended Chico State. Sherrell worked for Holly Sugar for 36 years in Hamilton City as a mechanic and welder. He also ran a small dairy and raised cattle and goats.
Sherrell was a golden soul from a different age; he never visited empty-handed. Extra produce, olive oil, jags of wood…he would constantly share whatever he had. He never took what he didn't earn. Fiercely loyal, he always took care of someone. Find a pile of wood on your doorstep at Christmas? That would be from Sherrell.
He left behind his wife; his two sons, John Russell Corron and his wife Margaret "Maggie" and Joseph James Corron and his wife Laurinda; his daughter Melissa Lynn Corron Burgasin Garton and two sisters Daisy Charlene McAllister of Bakersfield and Billye Ruth Fox-Wieden of Hampton, Virginia. He had numerous grandhildren and great-grand children, nieces, nephews, cousins and life long friends.
He was precede in death by his parents; his children Jeffrey Lewis Corron (1958-2006), Thomas Franklin Corron (1959-1959), Michelle Suzanne Corron Barber (1967-2012) and Jerome Andrew Corron (1969-1969); his brothers Darrell Corron (1935-1987) and Richard Franklin Corron (1939-1990) and two sisters Fannie Mae Peacock 91927-2009) and Betty Lou Darilek (1931-1991).
Graveside services will be held at 10 am 11/10/12 at Orland Masonic Cemetery and a Memorial Luncheon from 12 pm to 2 pm at the Hamilton City Community Hall.
Sherrell was a hard working man devouted to his family and always willing to help others. He will be greatly missed.
