ROCK HILL- Mrs. Betty Cornwell Edwards, 82, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2010 at White Oak Manor in Rock Hill.
The funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel with Rev. Tom Sherer officiating. Burial will be in Laurelwood Cemetery.
Born in Columbia, SC, Mrs. Edwards was a daughter of the late William Roden Cornwell and the late Ollie Ferguson Cornwell. She was graduated form Grover Cleveland High School in Caldwell, NJ and moved to Rock Hill in 1947 on her marriage to William D. Edwards. Mrs. Edwards worked as a legal secretary to the late Thomas F. McDow, Sr and an Executive Secretary of the York County Home Builders' Association. She was a long-time member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her sons, William R. "Eddie" Edwards (Linda) of Richburg and Steve T. Edwards (Linda) of York; her daughter, Cynthia E. Rieder of Lakeland, FL; her sister, Faye C. Pearson of Rock Hill; eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by William D. Edwards and her beloved daughter, Rebecca Edwards Byrum.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill and other times at the home of her sister, 1255 Winthrop Drive, Rock Hill.
