Lela M. Amos, 71, Eldon, died Thursday at St. Marys Health Center, Jefferson City. She was born April 17, 1922, in Kaiser, a daughter of John and Sarah Houston Cornett. She was married March 5, 1951, in Eldon to Gloe Amos, who died Dec 7, 1986.
She was a homemaker and a member of Aurora Springs Baptist Church. She lived in the Eldon and Jamestown communities most of her life.
Survivors include: one son, Raymond Varner, Jamestown; three daughters, Betty StCyr, Ashland, Ann Imhoff, Eldon, and Toni Pace, California; two stepdaughters, Alice Hartman, Hartsburg, and Jackie Cantwell, Eldon; three stepsons, Lonnie Vaughan and David Vaughan, both of Eldon and
Norman Varner, Jefferson City; four brothers, Jack Cornett, Williams, Ariz., Harvey Cornett, Haysville, Kan., Bob Cornett, Eldon, and Grover Cornett, Gravois Mills; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Aurora Springs Baptist Church. The Rev. Farrie Cole will officiate. Burial will be in Dooley Cemetery, Eldon. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.
