Funeral services for Alfred C. Cornelius who died Saturday night at 10 o'clock at the home of a son, Jim Cornelius at Eustace after a brief illness were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the graveside in the Moorehead Cemetery. The services were conducted by the Rev. Robert Tucker, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Eustace, with interment in the Moorehead Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lewis Tuck, J. R. Hathcock, J. D. Ashton, Preston Roberts, Robert Powell and Frank Mead. The Hassell & Foster Funeral Home was in charge in arrangements. Mr. Cornelius, a retired farmer was born on January 2, 1865 in Blount County, Alabama, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tillman Cornelius and moved from Alabama to Ennis in 1900. He moved to Eustace in 1911, and had resided there until his death. Mrs. Cornelius, the former Miss Sarah Tidwell, died in 1940 and was buried in the Moorehead Cemetery. Surviving are five sons, Ollin Cornelius, Carter Cornelius, Leon Cornelius and Ceci Cornelius, all of Dallas, and Jim Cornelius of Eustace; one daughter Mrs. Pearl Hathcock of Dallas; three half brothers, Luther Cornelius of California, Arthur Cornelius of Oklahoma City, and Walter Cornelius of Atlas, Oklahoma, and one sister, Miss Myrtie Cornelius of California.
