BESSIE CORDES, 83, a former Webster City and Kamrar area resident, died Sunday, Jan. 10 at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital at Iowa Falls.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Foster Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Miller officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Friends may call at Foster Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today until the time of service.
Bessie A. Ribbins, daughter of Elmer and Alice Butler Robbins, was born May 21, 1904 on a farm near Webster City. She was educated at Webster City High School. She later taught in rural schools in Hamilton County.
On June 23, 1923, she married William Cordes at her parents' home near Webster City. The couple farmed in the Kamrar area until 1951, when they moved to Allison. They farmed there until 1982, when they retired and moved to Iowa Falls.
Following her husband's death on May 12, 1986, she continued to live at Iowa Falls.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth of Tucson, Ariz., Wilbur of Allison and William R. of Denver, Colo.; one daughter, Alice Schlegel of Iowa Falls; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Beside her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
She was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church at Allison and was also a member of the Church's Ladies Guild.
